Firefox are planning to set a Guinness World Record by orchestrating a download day for their much anticipated (not by me) Firefox 3. You can go to their website and read more about it, and maybe participate in the pledge yourself and sign up for a reminder. I did. Not sure why, knowing that I don’t use firefox… I think I just wanted to be part of this thing! :D

Up to now There are 244 Kuwaiti pledges.

There is another ad made for the mall which I think has nothing to do with the mall, Cick Here if you wanna watch it.

There will be 7 levels in the 360° Mall, as stated on their website, Five above ground, one Lower Level, One Ground Floor.

The Mall should be done by the winter of 2008.

Rain On Demand

19 05 2008

Posted By Yousef

“The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday conducted tests to induce artificial rain, which yielded light to medium showers in some areas of the country.

The Meteorological Department at the National Centre of Meteorology and seismology (NCMS), used planes to sprinkle cloud seeding salts in moist clouds heading towards Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain, the Emirates news agency said.

Cloud seeding is a form of weather modification, used mostly to increase precipitation, by introducing particles into moist clouds.

The monitoring stations have already registered light to medium rainfalls in different areas of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the agency said, adding the Centre is planning to repeat the tests tomorrow.”

We need these kind of experiments in Kuwait Instead of spending money on tiling every sandy area and changing the roads on every traffic intersection from asphalt to tiles. We should be spending the money on these kind of things instead.

He was an ambitious man, After studying in Kuwait he went on to continue his education in Hendon Police Academy in England. Sheikh Saad served as the President of the Police and Public Service Department, also served as the Minister of Interior and minister of defense. Late Installment Fee

12 05 2008

Posted By Yousef

C’est la vie wrote me an email and raised an interesting issue for those of you who have to pay for loan installments every month.

She said that whenever there is an overtime or a bonus to the salary credited to your bank account before your actual salary is due (even the new 120kd which was credited a week before the salary), the bank starts the process of deducting the loans’ installments believing its your real monthly salary. Leaving you without money until the real salary is due and when the real salary is credited to your account, they deduct the rest of the loan’s installment. What most people fail to realize is that when they do that, the system thinks you were late for the due payment and they then charge you a tiny fee, when in fact you’re not late for the installment, it just, they were a week early.

She’s talking based on her experience with NBK but she also said that a lot of other banks do this. She believes that a lot of people aren’t aware of this little glitch in the system. “people don’t notice coz its a small amount of money, but if enough people where charged, the amount would be huge.”

Thank you C’est la vie for sharing this with us.
